Hello again! :D
For Part 2 of my look into the history of the DC-9 family, we go from the original barnstormer that was the Douglas DC-9 of the 1960s, to its unfortunate follow up for the 1980s and 90s, the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 Series, an improved range that was initially a major success, but quickly found that an outdated design, high fuel costs and the arrival of a new competitor in its market segment rapidly ate away the essential monopoly it once enjoyed, with successive upgrades in the form of the MD-90 failing to save the ailing McDonnell Douglas Company, and thus led to the very last variant of the DC-9 family, the MD-95, being released as a Boeing product, coming to pass as the modestly successful Boeing 717.
