This is a comprehensive review of pairs of compound gears that can be used to cut metric threads on an imperial lathe or imperial threads on a metric lathe. It includes a new equation to determine various gear ratios that can be used for these transposing gears. The free online program for gear train calculations can be used to list all the pairs of gears that can be used to reproduce the required gear ratios (RideTheGearTrain.com).
