Parting or cutting off and facing using the front tool post on an engineers metal lathe (a Boxford).

The first job is to cut a piece off a long bar of stainless steel using a cutting off blade called a parting tool. These do tend to jam causing damage to tools, your metal and possibly you and your mental health!  I have now made a much superior rear parting tool post that bolts onto the back of the cross slide and this is described in a later episode in this playlist.
