Jurisprudence is basically the study of the Theory and Philosophy of Law.
In jurisprudence we do not deal with the practically applicable pieces of statutory law, rather we try to understand the very essence of law and its various dimensions.
The word source of law is used in various senses. The common source of law is customs, codified law, judicial precedent, etc. with the growing popularity of codified law and precedent in modern states replacing various other sources of law.
There are many differences among jurists regarding the source of the law.
