It’s the story that shocked the nation, and now the abduction and murder of two-year-old James Bulger has been re-visited in a controversial short film, Detainment. The film, which has just been nominated for an Academy Award, is based on the transcripts of police interviews with killers Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, showing a more sympathetic depiction of the two young murderers. James Bulger’s mum, Denise joins us alongside her husband Stuart, to talk about how harrowing the experience has been for her, why she believes the film glorifies her son's murderers and why these true story depictions should not be made without permission of surviving family members.
