The online evening conferences of the Italian Cichlids Association continue.
On Monday 4 March Doctor Frederic Schedel will talk to us about the fish of the Inga rapids on the Congo River.
Frederic is a scientist from the University of Basel group who combines his experience as an aquarist with knowledge of the natural environments of cichlids.
So, friends who are passionate about cichlids, aquariums and more, here is the streaming of the exciting adventure in Africa on the lower Congo River to discover the fish fauna.
*The Congo is a 4,374 km river in equatorial Africa, the second longest on the continent after the Nile, the second in the world in terms of water flow and basin width after the Amazon River, and the first in the world as depth, which, at its maximum point, reaches 220 meters.
*The Inga waterfalls are a waterfall located 40 km from Matadi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Congo River makes a drop of 96 metres. They are, by average flow rate, the largest waterfalls in the world, with 42,476 m³/s. Its maximum flow rate was 70,793 m³/s. On these waterfalls there are two large dams (Inga dams) for the production of electricity. Two more are planned, one of which will be the largest in the world in terms of quantity of electricity produced.

Frederic è uno scienziato del gruppo dell'Università di Basilea che all'esperienza di acquariofilo unisce la conoscenza degli ambienti naturali dei ciclidi.
Quindi, amici appassionati di ciclidi, acquariofilia e non solo ecco lo streaming dell'avvincente avventura in Africa sul basso fiume Congo alla scoperta della fauna ittica.
*Il Congo è un fiume di 4 374 km dell'Africa equatoriale, il secondo più lungo del continente dopo il Nilo, il secondo al mondo per portata d'acqua e ampiezza del bacino dopo il Rio delle Amazzoni, e il primo al mondo come profondità, che, nel suo punto massimo, raggiunge i 220 metri.
*Le cascate Inga sono un salto d'acqua ubicato a 40 km da Matadi, nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo, dove il fiume Congo compie un salto di 96 metri. Sono, per portata media, la più grandi cascate al mondo, con 42.476 m³/s. La sua portata massima è stata di 70.793 m³/s. Su queste cascate sono presenti due grandi dighe (dighe Inga) per la produzione di energia elettrica. Altre due sono in progetto, una delle quali sarà la più grande al mondo per quantità di energia elettrica prodotta.
