The reboot of a game
The reboot of a game series can be a wonderful thing. Take the latest Tomb Raider for example. That reboot was awesome. But it can also go horribly wrong like the games on this list will show you. Get ready for the five worst reboots in gaming!
5. Bionic Commando - Capcom
Capcom's Bionic Commando reboot looked promising but it turned out to be a major disappointment. The main character was downright annoying with his cheesy one-liners and dumb dreadlocks. And the swinging mechanic was more frustrating than fun thanks to horribly restricted level design. What a waste.
4. Golden Axe: Beast Rider - Sega
Sega made a big mistake when they rebooted Golden Axe in 2008. Golden Axe: Beast Rider was an abysmal action-adventure that had nothing to do with the awesome beat 'em up from the eighties. With frustrating controls, awkward combat and a scantily clad female hero taking up your screen, it was simply an embarrassment.
3. Final Fight: Streetwise - Capcom
The awful reboot of Final Fight marked the death of the entire beat 'em up genre back in 2006. Final Fight: Streetwise had horrific mini-games ... one of the worst cameras in the history of gaming ... and a ridiculous storyline. The amount of frustration this game gives you just makes you want to punch the developers in the face.
2. Sonic The Hedgehog - Sega
Sega's first attempt of rebooting their mascot happened in 2006 with Sonic The Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. And o boy did they screw it up. The controls and camera were a complete mess and the story was absolutely ridiculous. Who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to give Sonic a human love interest?
1. Space Invaders: Invasion Day - Taito
Nobody wanted Space Invaders reboot, but we got one anyway. Space Invaders: Invasion Day turned the classic arcade game into a gritty third person shooter. As if that wasn't bad enough the game also was a complete fail in the gameplay and story department thanks to crappy controls and terrible characters. There's even a completely unnecessary shower scene in the game. Seriously what were they thinking?
