Video tutorial on how to repair the excessive pressure build up in the power steering reservoir on a Dodge Dakota. This video may also apply to the Ram or other Dodge vehicle as well, depending on the design. This is a very common problem, but can cause serious issues afterwards if not repaired right away. Some style of caps do vary, the cap can be cleaned but a new cap is fairly expensive to purchase from the dealer new. This particular tutorial was done on a 2003 Dodge Dakota equipped with a 4.7L V8.

Tools/Supplies Needed:
-new power steering reservoir cap
Procedure:
-remove the old cap
-before installing the new cap, ensure that the mounting surface is clean
-top up with the correct power steering oil if need
-replace with a new cap
-the original cap can be cleaned, but a degreaser is required in order to clean off the dirt and debris build up
-some power steering caps can be disassembled, others not
