Hi guys, today I am going to tell you about my experience and my university studies in History of Art in Palermo (Bachelor's and Master's) and Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage and Entertainment at the Catholic University of Milan (Master's Degree).

I want to share with you the reasons for my university choice and I hope this video will be helpful for all art lovers who want to deepen it at university. This is a slightly longer video than usual so I add the timestamps with the various topics here.

Topics:
0:01 - 1:47: my choice to study art history at university
1:48 - 4:12: my Bachelor's degree course in Art History (Art Sciences and Technologies) at the University of Palermo
4:13 - 6:41: choose the Master's Degree course in Economics and Management of Cultural Heritage
6:42 - 8:24: the first Master's Degree in Economics and management of cultural heritage at the Cattolica in Milan
8:25 - 10:37: the choice of the second Master's Degree in Art History in Palermo (from non-attending)
10:38 - 13:15: tips for those who want to study art at university (history, economics or communication)

For me, choosing to study art history at university was quite natural. In fact, after the Liceo Classico and having had the good fortune with my parents to travel a lot and visit museums and exhibitions, it came naturally to me to indulge my passions and study what interested me most: art.

Perhaps in an unconscious way, I never raised the problem of the career path when enrolling in the Bachelor's Degree in History of Art in Palermo. The only alternative I had considered was to enroll in the Faculty of Architecture.

My three-year course in Palermo included basic binding subjects and optional subjects of choice. Having overcome the initial obstacle of the first material, the subsequent ones were very focused on the history of art, then first medieval and then modern and finally applied arts. This gave me a lot of boost.

At the end of the second three-year year I had identified 3 particularly interesting courses: Economics and Management of Cultural Activities at Ca 'Foscari in Venice; Art, Enhancement and Market at the IULM in Milan and Economics and management of cultural heritage at the Cattolica in Milan.

La Cattolica had a study plan with an excellent mix of subjects of an economic nature, therefore of study of the art market and enhancement of cultural heritage and at the same time of an artistic philosophical nature such as Phenomenology of the arts. The only problem, not indifferent, was the fee.

Continuing my research on the Internet, I finally found an opportunity: the Giuseppe Toniolo Scholarship.
The selection was very competitive but with 110 cum laude from the Triennale, a good test and an interesting interview, I won it and arrived in Cattolica in September.
Here the specialist is still divided into two main strands: economics and art. On the one hand, subjects such as Finance Management for cultural enterprises and on the other Museology and Promotion for art and culture.

The introduction of economic subjects was initially a novelty for me. But certainly the added value of this path consists in meeting teachers who are professionals in the art world and in practical activities and cultural promotion projects.

I cannot deny that for me personally it was the right choice. However, if I had to choose today, I would also consider Bocconi for example with its master's degree course in English.

Certainly all these courses that I have mentioned are perfect for those who want to deepen the management of cultural heritage and the art market. If, on the other hand, during the three-year course you understand that you want to continue also in the master's degree to give a more academic and therefore historical-artistic research, then the specialist in Art History is the best choice at that point.

After completing my degree at the Catholic University of Milan, after a series of considerations, I decided to enroll in the specialist degree in Art History at the University of Palermo as a non-attending student. This is because I felt the need to conclude my three-year career as an art historian in a certain sense, but with new eyes and perhaps more ready to tackle the study of art in order to enhance it.

I hope you enjoyed this video about my course of study but above all that my advice will be useful for you in your choice.
