How is a gem cut and polished? Today's gemstone that's ready for precision cutting ( aka: Faceting ) is a gem you may not have heard of: Apatite. Actually a grouping of other minerals, apatite is typically too soft for the average jewelry market. However, when this delicate gem is carefully undertaken in the lapidary process, it can reward you with stunning colors! Today we'll perform the lapidary art of cutting and polishing this tricky apatite into a brilliant gemstone.
