In this video I go for an early morning paddle at Lake Patagonia, AZ. This is one of my favorite places to go kayaking, fishing, camping, etc. The north-eastern half of the lake is a designated no-wake zone and has a sandy beach for swimming. There are lots of small coves to explore, and it's one of the few places I know of that have "boat-in-only" campsites (with lots of regular campsites too). Campsites are reserved through the official website and are often booked several weeks/months in advance. You don't need a reservation for a day pass, which includes swimming, fishing, boating, hiking. The marina also offers pontoon boats, canoes, kayaks, and rowboats for rental. Thanks for watching!

- A NOTE ABOUT PADDLES - the length of your paddle depends on the width of your kayak and the height of the paddler. I do not recommend buying a paddle unless you have already purchased a kayak. I used plastic Wal-Mart paddles for several trips before upgrading to this Aqua-Bound Manta Ray Carbon model. The performance is almost as good as the top-of-the-line Werner models at only half the price.

- I like having one big dry bag (20-30L) for my phone/wallet/keys, extra clothes, supplies, etc. Everything that needs to stay dry goes in one big bag. It fits in the large rear hatch of my touring kayak, or gets bungeed to the deck of our sit-on-top kayak.
