After watching this video, I guarantee you can make an amazing gochujang soup (gochujang jjigae, 고추장찌개) by yourself in 15 minutes. It's so easy. This recipe is how some pro home cooks do it in Korea. The start of the gochujang soup making process may be slightly different from how typical home cooks make it but this is the way to do it in my opinion. Gochujang soup is such a popular dish in Korea maybe in the top 5 most popular Korean soups. Its flavor is clean and savory. As long as you have a tub of gochujang (any big box groceries carry it) and a bunch of vegetables in your fridge, you can make it. I added pork to this recipe as pork is a commonly added choice of meat to this soup but you can also make it with beef or even make it vegetarian. I've seen this with beef many times. If you want to make it vegan, use vegan fish sauce. Ingredients: 3 tbsp gochujang 3 tbsp mirin 1 tsp light sodium soy sauce 1 tsp agave syrup or sugar 3 tsp gochugaru aka Korean chili powder (2 in the beginning and 1 later) 3 tsp fish sauce 2 tsp garlic powder pinch of white pepper 1/2 onion 1/4 lb of pork (country style ribs) 1/2 potato 1 zucchini 4-5 shiitake mushrooms 1/2 firm tofu 4-5 garlic cloves 2 jalapeño peppers 1 green onion #gochujang #gochujangsoup #고추장찌개 #gochujangjjigae #gochujangstew
