Ravaging floods have submerged nearly the entire Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, covering 1,300 sq km, except for specific areas in Panbari reserve forest and approximately 80% of Dibru-Saikhowa National Park. The floods have tragically claimed the lives of four hog deer, while forcing other animals to seek refuge on higher ground. Forest staff have conducted rescues, saving 24 animals, primarily deer, and relocating them to safer areas after assessing their health. With 167 out of 233 forest camps inundated and eight vacated, the park is coping with the crisis as wild animals migrate to elevated regions within the park boundaries to escape the rising waters.
