This video describes the different experiments that ultimately led to the discovery of auxins. The earliest set of experiments were performed by Darwin (1880) who worked on the coleoptile of the canary grass. In his experiments, he had proved that the growth-promoting substance (Auxins) are produced in the coleoptile tip one the coleoptile is exposed to unilateral light. The next set of experiments were performed by Boysen-Jensen (1913) who also worked on the coleoptile of the canary grass and showed that during phototropic curvature of the coleoptile the auxins exhibit lateral transport from the coleoptile tip towards the elongation zone of the dark/ Non-illuminated side. The third major experiment was performed by F.went (1926) who worked on the coleoptile of the oat seedling and showed that the growth-promoting substance (Auxins) is a diffusable compound.

This video will be helpful for NEET as well as CSIR examinations.
