This video describes the different pathways of auxin biosynthesis. Auxin biosynthesis can occur by Tryptophan dependent pathway (TDP) or Tryptophan independent pathway (TIP). The biosynthesis via both the pathways starts from a common precursor known as Chorismate within the plastids.

In TIP, Indole forms IPA which is then converted into IAA. But in case of the TDP indole produces tryptophan within the plastids which is then converted into IAA via 4 possible routes i.e The IPA pathway, TAM pathway, IAN pathway and the IAM (Bacterial) Pathway.

Auxins can be of two types, Natural vs Synthetic. Some common natural auxins are IAA, 4-Chloro IAA and IBA. Some synthetic Auxins are-2,4D and 2,4,5T, NAA and Dicamba.
