Prawns Pulav in Pressure Cooker
Prawns Pulav in Pressure Cooker | Easy and Delicious | Prawns Pulao
Prep:
3 Cups Basmati rice
Wash and soak for 30 mins
Strain & Keep aside
500 Grams Prawns deveined
Salt to taste
1/4 Tsp Turmeric powder
1 Tsp Red chilli powder
Mix well
Keep aside for 15-20 mins
Take a pressure cooker
4-5 Tbsp Oil
Heat the oil
Once oil is hot, reduce the flame to low to avoid burning of whole spices
2-3 Bayleaves
1 cylindrical cinnamon stick ( 2 halves)
5 Cardamoms
5 Cloves
1/2 Tsp Pepper corns
Saute for 15-30 secs
3 Red Onions medium sized sliced ( roughly 400-450 grams)
Saute till they start softening
2 Tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
Saute till raw smell goes away and onion
starts browning
You will also see oil starts separating from onions.
3 Tbsp Coriander stems finely chopped (optional)
Saute for 30 secs
1/2 Tsp Tumeric powder
1.5 Tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
Saute till oil starts separating
2 Tomatoes finely diced ( roughly 250 grams)
Saute till tomatoes becomes soft
Salt to taste
(this will also help tomatoes to cook faster)
Mix well and saute till tomatoes become mushy
(You will see oil separating as well once masala is cooked)
Add the marinated prawns
Mix well and saute for 1-2 mins
1/2 Cup Coconut cream + 3.5 Cups water
( coconut cream / milk is optional but it enhances the taste )
Allow it to simmer
3 Cups l Basmati Rice
Mix well gently
1.5 Tsp Garam Masala
Taste it & adjust salt and sourness according to taste if required
1 Tbsp lemon juice (optional)
( Ideally tomatoes should give mild sourness to balance flavors but if it doesn’t then add lemon juice if required)
Salt to taste
(The water should taste a tad bit salty as you need to account for the rice else the pulav may taste bland.)
Mix well gently
Turn the gas to high heat and allow to boil
Once you start seeing bubbles
Close the lid and cook on medium to low flame to get 1 whistle
Switch off the gas &
Allow steam to release
(I find that my rice cooks quickly so I release the steam within 5 mins or less so
it doesn’t turn soggy.)
Open the lid
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve hot
Prawns pulav is ready!
