The Main Danube Canal project
The Main Danube Canal project with Jürgen (Monkycircus) and I started from Dietfurt with the aim of reaching the city of Bamberg in several stages.
The first kayak trip on the waterway started from Ditfurt. Shortly after embarking, we were stopped by the Dietfurt lock with our air and inflatable boats, an Itewit x500 and my Gumotex Seawave. We then simply carried the weir around. In that part of the canal there are still smaller backwaters. It also flows into the federal waterway in Sulz. We then followed the Sulz upriver as far as we could. The stream flows through a small alluvial forest. At a beaver dam in the Sulz we look at river hikers turn around again,
After that, the outdoor journey continued and we crossed the border to Franconia / Upper Palatinate.
After several small backwaters, we then reached the MDK lock in Bachhausen.
After a short break we made our way back. On the way back we made a stop at a pizzeria in the yacht harbor while hiking on the river.
