Here is the part 3 of a series all about drum set chart reading. It is geared towards beginning to intermediate players who already have basic drum set skills. This chart, Alianza  by Eric Morales, is a bit more advance than the previous two selections.
This tune is written in a Latin-Jazz Style and transitions between a mambo/songo groove and a straight-ahead jazz feel.
I play the chart and then talk about the equipment I use to play this type of music. I also discuss interpreting the chart with short and long sounds on the drum set.
Finally, I play it again with the music on the screen so that you can see how I set up the figures.
Here are the time stamps:
0:00 Alianza Chart Demo
3:33 Introduction
5:15 Latin to Jazz Transitions
6:17 Cymbals for playing Latin Jazz
7:22 Chart Excerpts Intro
9:38 Applying the Songo to Bar 115

11:44 Chart Excerpts M173
