The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain is set to make its mark as a high-riding, all-wheel-drive wagon designed for light off-roading. Slated for a U.S. release in 2024, the vehicle will be officially unveiled at the upcoming IAA Mobility event in Munich. The All-Terrain distinguishes itself from the standard E-Class sedan with a unique front grille featuring two bars with an Iridium Silver finish and a revised lower fascia. The wheel arches are clad in dark gray, and the wagon comes with 18-inch wheels as standard, although 19- and 20-inch options are available.

In terms of storage, the All-Terrain offers 21.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which can be expanded to 64.6 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. This is in contrast to the E-Class sedan, which has a trunk capacity of 19 cubic feet. The All-Terrain also comes standard with a power tailgate and a retractable luggage cover.

When it comes to dimensions, the All-Terrain is slightly larger than the E-Class sedan. It measures 195 inches in length, 75 inches in width, and 58.9 inches in height, compared to the sedan's dimensions of 194.8 inches in length, 74 inches in width, and 58.3 inches in height.

Under the hood, the All-Terrain is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produces 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. It also features a mild-hybrid system, known as the E 450 4Matic, which provides an additional 23 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. The wagon can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in an estimated 4.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.

The vehicle comes standard with Mercedes' Airmatic single-chamber air suspension system, which offers continuously adjustable damping. This system ensures that the ground clearance remains constant, irrespective of the vehicle's load. When driving at speeds above 75 mph, the Comfort setting automatically lowers the vehicle by 0.6 inches.

For infotainment, the All-Terrain is equipped with the Mercedes MBUX Superscreen, similar to the setup in the sedan. An optional front passenger screen is also available. The wagon features an Off-Road driving program that displays various metrics such as a compass, latitude and longitude coordinates, a vehicle angle indicator, and tire pressures on the driver and central screens.

Additionally, the All-Terrain comes with a "transparent hood" function as part of its 360-degree camera system, enhancing visibility of the surrounding terrain. This feature is particularly useful for off-road driving situations where clear visibility is crucial.

Safety features are abundant in the All-Terrain. The standard suite includes attention assist, active brake assist, and a parking package. For those looking for more, an optional Driver Assistance Package adds active steering assist, active lane keeping assist, active speed limit assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Pricing details for the All-Terrain are yet to be announced and will be made available closer to the vehicle's launch date. Given its array of features and capabilities, the All-Terrain aims to attract customers who are looking for a versatile vehicle that can handle both on-road and off-road conditions but do not wish to opt for an SUV.
