We have heard a lot about Segundo Bairro, a restaurant popular with Ponjecars, and have come to try it out for ourselves

Carmo Baretto is the main force behind Segundo Bairro, along with Maria and Sydney. This 2 year old restaurant used to be in Santa Cruz before moving to this location in Hotel Bernardo in Dona Paula, 9 months ago

We were immediately impressed by the restaurant’s striking mural on its outside wall. Besides this mural, there are many more lovely ones and Mario’s timeless scenes of Goa life on the inside walls of the restaurant. While checking out the interiors, it was a pleasant surprise to bump into some fans of our channel! Abhijeet is a regular here, and told me that the Goan food at Segundo Bairro is fantastic, so we are looking forward to a lovely lunch

Today we’re in Panjim for lunch, then going for the feri at Old Goa. We already attended the Portuguese mass on the day before the feast of St Francis Xavier. Now we’re dreaming of what to buy at one of Goa's largest feris. Nearly my whole wardrobe is from the feast feris of Goa, where we always find really great clothes

Today, we’re joined by the charming Levin, a good friend of Eveyln’s son. We found that our culinary tastes have much in common with him.

Now, what to eat: chicken cafreal (Rs 350), two Malabar porottas (Rs 30), one fresh garden green salad (Rs 150), one bombil thali with red rice (Rs 250), one modso thali with red rice (Rs 300), one mussels rawa fry (Rs 550-700)

Our Goan fish thalis had prawn curry, crab, teesrio, dry prawn kismur, bhaji, sol kari, salad, rice, daangar (cutlet), a nice piece of modso (lemon fish) or Bombay ducks (bombil) and lovely watermelon.

Name every great Goan dish and Segundo Bairro has it. It has everything from beef assado (Rs 220) to tongue (Rs 250) and choris bread (Rs 250) with lots of meat stuffed in a poee, xacuti (Rs 325), aad maas (Rs 250), solantulem (Rs 295), vindaloo (Rs 350), chilli fry (Rs 295) and, of course, the full range of Goan fish dishes

Most of us cannot eat sweets and were much too full after that lovely lunch. But you can try the serra dura (Rs 160), chocolate mousse (Rs 200) and caramel custard (Rs 130) here.

And after this lovely Dona Paula afternoon, off we go to the Old Goa feri.

We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic 2024. God bless
