Cal OES Sky Tour: Lake Oroville Spillway

Today was the kind of day we were all hoping for. We had a lot of sunshine, and zero rain. That gave state officials a chance to reduce the amount of water they were letting out of Lake Oroville via their controlled spillway. Record amounts of rain and a massive hole in the spillway caused by erosion had many believing the emergency spillway was going to handle overflow. This story shows how the change in weather changed the forecast for state emergency responders and dam engineers.
