In this video, I will explain the transport processes (primary active transport, secondary active transport, facilitated diffusion), and the molecules (amino acid transporter, amino acid pump, sodium ion pump, sodium ion symporter, hydrogen ion symporter) in the apical and/or basal surface of the absorptive cells lining the small intestine involved in the absorption of amino acids, dipeptides, tripeptides, and electrolytes such as sodium ion and hydrogen ion. Then, I will explain how these absorbed nutrients are transported to the liver through hepatic portal vein and elaborate on the flow of blood out of the liver through hepatic veins into the inferior vena cava, which takes blood to the right atrium, and eventually how the absorbed nutrients reach the tissue cells.
