MOVED TO JAPAN!!! ~ Learned How to Make Mochi | Mochitsuki

Happy New Year 2022 everyone! As some of you know, I moved to Japan September 2021. So far, I've been so busy adjusting and getting used to that work-life balance. Japan has been super cool so far and I cannot wait to show you guys all of my awesome experiences here! For Christmas, we were invited to experience traditional Japanese mochi making! This ceremony is normally held right before the New Year. We made mochi by pounding together glutinous rice with a mallet and mortar. Another traditional dish eaten during this time is called Imoni. It's soup made with meat, leeks, taro, mushrooms, and burdock root. Big thanks to the host family who threw this wonderful event for us and made Christmas special in a Japanese way.
