Mir Babar Ali Anees (Urdu:
Mir Babar Ali Anees (Urdu: مير ببر على انيس) also known as Mir Anees was an Urdu poet. He used his pen-name of Anees in poetry. Anees used Persian, Urdu, Arabic, and Sanskrit words in his poetry. Anees wrote prolonged Marsiyas, which was a custom of his times, but nowadays only selected sections are narrated even in religious ceremonies. He died in 1291 Hijra, corresponding with 1874 CE. "Jab Qata ki Musafat e Shab Aftab Ne" is one of the prolonged Marsiyas of Mir Anees, around 200 Band, out of which only 55 Bands have been uploaded in this video.
