Faiz Ahmed Faiz: was a
Faiz Ahmed Faiz: was a renowned Urdu poet from Pakistan. Faiz was born in British India in a small Punjabi village of Kala Kadar near Sialkot. Faiz was educated initially in a mosque school and then in Scott and Murray Mission school in Sialkot and he subsequently went to Lahore to undertake graduation in English literature and a masters in Arabic language. His mastery of four languages (Arabic, English, Persian and Urdu) enabled him to beautifully craft his poetry in coming years.
Apart from being a great poet, Faiz edited several journals and newspapers, reflected on cultural issues, penned film scripts and documentaries. He represented an unwavering revolutionary believe in the capacity and determination of oppressed people to fight and defeat tyranny.
This Channel: is an effort on limited scale to promote Urdu Poetry in general and highlight famous works of Urdu Poets to not only native Urdu Speaking Population but also to the wider English Speaking audience. The aim is to educate general public on the ideas conceived and put forth by known and / or comparatively lesser known poets of Urdu Language.
Urdu Poetry: is not just focused on Romance between a guy and a girl; a common misconception. Several concepts from psychology, sociology, economics, contemporary politics and the philosophy have remained part of Urdu Poetry. Its not just sadness or the destructive part of life and love that it represents; it represents much more than that.
