Kayak Repair: How to practice plastic welding before repairing a kayak

Not a good idea to do plastic welding "for record" without ever having done it before. That was my problem, so I found a way to practice before turning my attention to my fishing kayak. I still need to do more practice to improve my technique before fixing my yak, but at least this way is cheap and easy. In the end, I decided not to worry about the scrapes and just fixed the deep gouges as well as rebuilt the front and back where concrete boat ramps and eroded a significant amount of plastic away.
