2025 Nissan Qashqai facelift unveiled, due in Australia this year

The Nissan Qashqai small SUV is already receiving an update 18 months after its Australian arrival, with a new look and technology.

The 2025 Nissan Qashqai small SUV has been given a mid-life facelift – with new styling and technology – ahead of Australian showroom arrivals due by the end of 2024.

The latest Qashqai has only been on sale in Australia for about 18 months, but it was unveiled in Europe more than three years ago – so Nissan is giving it an update to keep pace with newer small-SUV rivals.

Australian details and prices are yet to be announced. The current Qashqai range is priced from $33,890 to $47,390 plus on-road costs for petrol versions, with the e-Power hybrid priced from $51,590 plus on-road costs.

The updated Qashqai introduces a restyled front fascia with a super-sized grille – which includes gloss black "comma-shaped elements" claimed to be inspired by "ancient Japanese armour scales" – and a new lower bumper.

The headlights have been revised with a different shape and a new adaptive high-beam module claimed to improve the width of illumination, while there is a new tail-light design with clear lenses and red comma-shaped lighting elements.

Also new is a reshaped rear bumper in gloss black or body colour, gloss black trim on the side of top-of-the-range models, restyled 18-inch, 19-inch and 20-inch alloy wheels, and Pearl White, Pearl Black and Deep Ocean paint colours.

Added to the European line-up is an N-Design variant, with body-coloured lower cladding and unique 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the infotainment system – still running on a 12.3-inch touchscreen on flagship variants – adds Google built-in apps, including Google Maps, Google Assistant and the Google Play app store, plus Amazon Alexa.

Apple CarPlay remains available, while no mention has been made of Android Auto integration being deleted.

More expensive models in Europe now feature Alcantara suede-like material on the dashboard, door inserts, armrests and knee pads, while there new "patterned" materials around the gear selector, and on the dashboard above the glovebox.

There are new seat trim options, including "partially-quilted premium leather", a fully-quilted synthetic leather-look material with coloured highlights, and on the N-Design, leather and Alcantara upholstery.

Other new interior features include expanded multi-colour ambient lighting on flagship variants, and new displays for the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The 360-degree camera has been updated with a 3D view, higher-resolution camera, an 'invisible bonnet' view which shows the position of the front wheels when the camera view is looking from behind, and a feature which memories tricky parking spots.

The Qashqai has gained extra safety features to comply with new European regulations, including upgraded traffic-sign recognition tech which uses GPS data as well as reading speed signs – and now beeps if the driver exceeds the speed limit it has detected.
