The German term 'Fernweh' expresses an irresistible desire and longing for distant places.
Almost my entire new album, and also this piece, was written and produced during the pandemic. It’s supposed to describe my intense and deep longing for going to the beach and watching the sea – that’s one of my most important sources of inspiration, it gives me a feeling of eternity.
Like most of us, I spent the entire quarantine period at home (our house is unfortunately far away from the beach), and there was only me and my daughter. So she became the only witness of the writing and recording process, she was the first one who listened to the new music.
So often I'm amazed how the cheerful spirit of a child is motivating and inspiring parents to continue, against all odds. Thank you, Menesse!

Almanca bir kelime olan 'Fernweh', uzak yerlere duyulan karşı konulmaz bir arzu ve özlem hissini ifade ediyor. Bu parça ve yeni albümümün neredeyse tamamı pandemi döneminde yazıldı. Fernweh, deniz kenarında geçirdiğim vakitlere dair duyduğum yoğun ve derin özlemimi ifade ediyor. Denizi seyretmek benim en önemli ilham kaynaklarımdan biridir ve bana sonsuzluk hissi verir. Fakat elbette pek çoğunuz gibi ben de karantina sürecini evde kızımla beraber geçirdim ve maalesef evimiz sahile çok uzaktı. Öte yandan kızım da bu dönemde ortaya çıkan tüm çalışmalarımın ve yazma süreçlerimin ilk şahidi, ilk dinleyicisi oldu.
Bir çocuğun neşe saçan ruhunun, tüm olumsuzluklara rağmen ebeveynlerini ayakta tutabiliyor olması beni hep çok etkilemiştir. Teşekkürler Menesse!
