Lakeside Mall is a dead shopping mall located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The mall is anchored by Macy's and JCPenney, with two vacant anchor stores previously occupied by Lord & Taylor and Sears. With 1,550,000 square feet of retail space spanning two floors, Lakeside Mall is the largest mall in the state of Michigan by leasable square footage. The mall opened on March 2, 1976 with four anchor stores: Hudson's, Sears, Crowley's, and JCPenney, with Lord & Taylor added in 1978 as a fifth anchor. Unfortunately, with the common decline of malls in the early 2020's and due to dwindling occupancy combined with future plans for redevelopment, it was announced on May 1, 2024 that the mall would be permanently closing on July 1, 2024 and later demolished. The plan is to transform Lakeside from a mall, to a town center. Lakeside will then have over 2,800 multi-family apartments, nearly 150,000 square feet of retail & dining and a 120-room hotel. Growing up in the Metro Detroit area, Lakeside Mall was our childhood mall. This was a very popular hangout spot for all of us growing up. Seeing the decline of this mall and the eventual demolition will be very saddening. In this video, we take what could be our final trip to Lakeside Mall and also take a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The mall is now permanently closed as of July 1st, 2024 Here are some photos I also took at Lakeside during it's final weeks - www.instagram.com/p/C8no8mCJ8Yj/?igsh=NnpoeHZvdWtm… RESEARCH - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakeside_Mall www.instagram.com/metrodetroitnews/p/C6bXaxYu9fO/ BACKGROUND MUSIC -    • Essence- until her whispers fade      • The Burn Marks on My Epiano Wont Go Away
