The classic eighties Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon brought a small indie franchise to the mainsteram, took the toy market by storm, became a decade-long media sensation, practically gave birth to a whole new genre of cartoon, and catapulted the Turtles and their creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird to stardom, paving the way for many, many more takes on the franchise.
