RECOMMEND
The 18th piece of work by Taiwanese stageplay group, "Creative Society", was debuted on 14 May, 09 in the Metropolitan Hall in Taipei.
We went for its rehearsal one day before and interviewed the director Huei-lin Chou, the supporting actor Yi-shou Li and the main actress Yen-Lin Hsu.
5 actors and 2 actresses played 13 roles in the work.
The dialogue written by the director was easily understood in a very good sense of humor.
The story was based on an old novel written by a writer, "Yu Li", who was born in Chinese Ming dynasty several hundred years ago from now. It depicted a gay society in the southern region of China, where straight was minority on that time.
Director Chou has changed the timeline in the story from the just begin of Republic of China established in the year 1912 to 1950, where in the southern area of China 2 men had been seeing each other and married then, oneʻs ex-boyfriend was so jealousy to set up a trap in a court.
Because of a conservative era when the judge in the court still had power to command private punishment, one who got sever injure by a spank punishment causing to dead in the court. He finally left a babe-boy to his male-wife.
Time flied fast, the baby-boy was grown up and looked very delicious for other men, his didnʻt recognize his mum was a man before, and the society background was transferred to Taiwan after WW2.
The male-mum was afraid of "her" son would follow the same situation that "she" had before, so in order to keeping "her" son from the gay circle, she had moved the house many times, just like a modern "Mon-mum" (孟母), who moved house 3 times for giving her son a better living environment in Chinese historical story.
But no one can wonder the power of gene and blood given by the parents, son couldnʻt avoid getting together with his classmate and realized his mother was a male at the beginning as well.
