How to read the thermal code of the car spark plug?
Is the candle I bought suitable for my car? This is the question that most people ask when changing a car spark plug. Car spark plugs should be replaced every 20 to 50 thousand kilometers, and of course, in some iridium spark plugs, it should be done up to 160 thousand kilometers. But a number and letters are engraved on the candles, and these numbers are known as the thermal code of the candle.
The task of the car spark plug, other than sparking, is to transfer heat from inside the combustion chamber to the outside. This heat is mostly directed outside through the threads that are in contact with the cylinder head.
These candles are known as cold candles and warm candles, but they cannot be distinguished from their appearance. For this purpose, each candle manufacturer puts a technical number for the candle's thermal code. The longer the ceramic around the positive electrode of the candle, the warmer the candle is. The shorter this ceramic is, it is called a cold candle. The only thing is that the length and the shortness of the porcelain of the candle should not be confused with the size of the candle.
But the signs of car spark plug failure help us in replacing it. The failure of the car spark plug is easily detected, which I have explained in a separate video.
