I was excited to test out the InflateR tire pump because I’ve tried other portable compressors in the past, but none were this small and I haven’t ever used one with a built-in power bank before. That was a unique selling point in my opinion.

The device was well-packaged, and I like how straight-forward the instructions are. It’s very easy to use. It also comes with a variety of accessories, so you can use it to fill up balloons, river rafts, bike tires, car tires, and basically anything that holds air. I also like that the small carrying bag has a hidden Velcro pocket inside, so I’m less likely to lose those little screw-on parts!

I plugged the air pump in to charge with the micro USB charger for a few hours. Then, I put it to the test once the screen showed full power with a green light. Setting the units and goal PSI on the pump is super easy. Then, you just have to click the power button to start and it will automatically turn off once the tires are full. My husband’s old pickup hasn’t been driven in a while, so the tires were really low. It took about eight minutes to go from 23 to 33 PSI.

Unfortunately, filling up one tire drained almost the entire battery. The InflateR died on me before finishing the second tire. It does come with a DC adaptor, so you can use your car battery for power, but the lack of robust performance from the rechargeable power bank battery is really worrisome, especially if you’re planning on using it in case of a roadside emergency.

After testing it out myself, I plan to keep it plugged in at home for bike tires and small compressor needs, but I don’t feel comfortable relying on it as a portable tire pump for my car.
