$3 Billion Deal: Delivery of 17 US-made V-22 Ospreys to Japan Completed

In 2014, the Japanese government decided to procure 17 V-22 Ospreys. The first V-22 for Japan made its maiden flight in 2017, and training in the United States began in 2019. Delivery to the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force started in 2020.
The procurement cost, including training for both aircraft and crew, is estimated at around $3 billion.
