Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we are at The East Lancashire Railway on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend to have rides behind David Smith's LMS jinty 47298 while she works the normal passenger services.
Also in action was Andy Booth's Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway A Class 52322 as he works the railway's premier dining train The Lancastrian.
The 2 locos have very significance as at 1 point both these engines had been sheded at Sutton Oak 8G Sheds in St Helens during their careers for British Rail.
Which is dubbed in this video today A Sutton Oak 8G day on the lancs.
We start at the northern terminus of the line at Rawtenstall as we see 47298 arrive with the 1st train of the day from Bury.
We join 47298 on board for the run to Heywood most part was going down hill so we get the arrival & departure runs along the line.
We pass 52322 at Bury as we pulled into the station for a 45 minute layover at Bolton Street which gave us a chance to have a look round both locos at close quarters.
Soon it was time to get moving again & for the highlight of the runs today the climb over the bridge that goes over Greater Manchester's Metrolink Network dubbed the ski jump on the 1 side is 1 in 41 gradient while on the other side of the bridge is 1 in 36 gradient.
Soon we pick up speed as we climb away from Bury as we head east to Heywood.
After a gd run we return to Bury for a while as we see 47298 arrive from Rawtenstall during her 2nd run of the day from Rawtenstall.
It was here at Bolton Street we get the crossover of the 2 locos as 52322 arrives with The Lancastrian to terminate after doing a full line round trip.
Soon we get the road to Heywood. For this part not much filming was made so mostly it was to enjoy it.
We end at Bury Bolton Street as 47298 departs back to the sheds at Baron Street getting a standing ovation from a private party as she left the station for the sheds.
