Pablo Picasso, known for his Cubist, Surrealist, and Modern paintings, was caught under Nazi Occupation in France. Unwilling to go back to Spain, because of Franco’s militaristic rule, Picasso chose to stay in France. His sentiments for the Occupation were clear: he was labeled an anarchist and was prohibited from exposing his art.
