The DARVO Effect: When Abusers Turn The Tables!

DARVO is a well known manipulation tactic within the psychology community that makes victims doubt their own reality and undermines their ability to trust themselves.  It is helpful to know what DARVO looks like so that you are empowered to protect yourself from harmful individuals who seek to control you and stop you from holding them accountable for negative behaviors.  Abusers and narcissistic individuals commonly use this tactic.  Another form of DARVO is gaslighting and blame-shifting.
