Trappist-1, a star system nestled just 40 lightyears from our own, boasts seven rocky planets. Two of these fascinating planets reside in the habitable zone, the Goldilocks region where conditions are just right for liquid water.

However, Trappist-1's red dwarf star status raises intriguing questions. These stars are known for their fiery flares, which could potentially pose challenges for planets in their vicinity. Recent findings from the Webb telescope seem to confirm our concerns. Examining the closest planets to Trappist-1, no significant signs of atmospheres were detected, casting doubt on the atmospheric prospects of the entire system.

While the prevalence of red dwarf stars had sparked hopes for habitable planets, these Webb telescope revelations urge us to broaden our horizons in the search for suitable worlds.
