Game runs ok, there are some workarounds, but overall it's playing pretty good. I could only get it working through Windows 10. This game has had major issues since its release on pc in 2007, but it seems to be running ok here. It saves my checkpoints when I exit the game and picks up the controls almost perfect. One downside is I couldn't get the trackpad to work as the mouse, so you're pretty much stuck between using the controller or a regular mouse and keyboard.
*After you add the Startup.exe to your steam library you need to right click it in your steam library, go to "properties", in the "Launch Options" box type in -windowed This turned out to be the fix for when the game crashes after the splash screen when opening. After the game opens, go to settings and set it to Full Screen/1280x800.
*I had to run Startup.exe first, then run GosSI-Target for the controls to pick up. The Controller Layout on GlosSI-Target needs to be set to "Gamepad With Joystick Trackpad" for Gears to pick up the controls.
*If you're trying to get it working on a regular pc, I've tried to play it on my computer and I got it working once, then continuous C++ runtime errors after closing and trying to reopen and I haven't been able to open it since there. Windows 10 on Steam Deck is looking good so far though.
