The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has approved the first-ever vaccine for honeybees in Canada. Beekeeper Jeremy Olthof said he hopes it can be expanded to address the diseases that contributed to major honeybee losses in recent years. Dalan Animal Health, a U.S. biotechnology company, devised the vaccine, which targets the extremely contagious American foulbrood disease.
