New Discovered Cancelled Disney Film BOTS! Most Obscure Disney Lost Media Ever!

I was originally going to post animation tests of Lilo & Stitch for the 21st Anniversary of the film but I decided not to since I don’t think it was good enough for a video but I managed to come across a video on Vimeo by an animator named Patrick Tuorto who worked on films like The Lion King, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, Brother Bear, and still works in the animation industry to this day with his most recent work Arlo the Alligator Boy and Pantheon. The title of the video is called “StoryReel of a Pitch to Disney” which Patrick pitched a film to Disney called BOTS! From the looks of the story reel, it’s almost like it’s Rocky but Robots, and it even has the Eye of the Tiger song that played in Rocky III which seems like it’s an homage to that franchise. According to the description Disney liked the idea but thought it would fit more for a tv show instead of a theatrical film. And that’s all the known material of this pitch that’s available online, which it’s unknown if this pitch even got far into production. It’s also unknown if this pitch was in the late 90s or the early 2000s. This is probably the most obscure Disney lost media ever, I’m probably the first one to find out that this existed and there’s no hearts of it on vimeo and only 645 views. If this project did got greenlit for a film this would’ve been a lot different from other Disney films at the time it would felt more like a Warner Bros or Dreamworks film, it’s ashame it got likely cancelled because it does look promising, I wonder if it was inspired by the show Battlebots and this kind of looks similar to the Blue Sky film Robots from 2005, makes me wonder if that film got some inspiration from this project because it does look and sounds similar. Hopefully this cancelled project can get more recognition and maybe get a hands on more info and material about it, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
