It's always a thrill to see a black bear in the wild, and a group of us from our tour company came across this small one when we were touring around Yellowstone on a company outing a few years ago. I happened to find this video while I was doing some spring cleaning, but it was taken long before HD videos came into in existence!
One of the beauties of Yellowstone is you never know what you're going to see when, and we chanced upon this bear on the road between Tower-Roosevelt and Mammoth, just a couple of miles to the west of Tower.
Those of you who have been to Yellowstone will know you need to stay 25 yards (23 metres) away from all animals except bears and wolves, from which you need to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards (91 metres). Unfortunately that was not the case here as the throngs of people who had stopped tried to get the best pictures they could.
