Scilab is a numerical computational software. Scilab is a free alternative to a commercial software MATLAB. Scilab is an open source software for scientists and engineers who are doing research or scientific and numerical computation. In particular it is helpful for people who can not afford to buy MATLAB. Scilab is becoming extremely popular among students of universities. It also has an alternative to MATLAB simulink which is called Xcos. Xcos is a simulation software for models of dynamic systems. You can also model control systems, signal processing systems, mathematical systems etc. Xcos has a large library of palettes which can be used for modelling and simulation of dynamic systems.
