The dedolight NEO DLED7N is offered in 2 versions:

(i) DLED7N-C multicolor

(ii) DLED7N-BI bi-color

It may appear that the choice would be simple: order either a multicolor light or bi-color light, however, there are specific differences between the 2 lights which make the choice not so obvious.

There are distinct differences in:

(i) Shadow qualities

(ii) Output

(iii) Beam focussing range

The DLED7N-C multicolor light features a powerful 80W adjustable focusing spotlight with a 6:1 flood to spot ratio and an RGBACL full color spectrum output. The red, green, blue, amber, cyan, and lime engine provides a wide color gamut throughout an extended 2000-20,000K;

The bi-color light, the DLED7N-BI, also features an 80W adjustable focussing spotlight, however, the bi-color light also provides cleaner shadows, higher light output, and greater focussing range, with continuous adjustment from 2700-6500k.

Given that most of what we film requires white light ie interviews, pieces to cameras, demos, lighting of talent in drama production, this means that often the bicolor light can be more useful.

Some say ideal solution would be a kit containing a bicolor light or lights, in combination with the multicolor light, or lights.

It isn't as simple as saying one needs the multicolor light or bicolor light. It really depends on what you are filming and the results you wish to achieve.

In the video above, presented by Sean Boyriven from dedolight California, Sean outlines and shows the differences between both of these lights and the advantages which each light offers.
