Nowshera is a district located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Punjab and it has total population of over 1.5 million people. Nowshera is located at GT Road along the Kabul River 27 miles away from Peshawar division. Nowshera district is surrounded by Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Orakzai district, Kohat and Attock districts. Nowshera district is connected with other famous cities of Pakistan via M1 Motorway, Swat Expressway and through Railway lines. The nearest Airport is Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar. Rakashai has been marked as the important economic zone of Nowshera district due to CPEC plan.
Nowshera district is divided into 3 Tehsils; Tehsil Nowshera, Tehsil Jihangira Abad and Tehsil Pabbi. There are multiple important centers of Pakistani Armed Forces in Nowshera district like SSG Commandos Training Center Chirat, PAF academy in Risalpur, Army Engineering College Risalpur, Nowshera Cantt and Army Supply Core etc.
If we talk about history of Nowshera district with some unbelievable facts then Nowshera had been part of Mughal Empire, Sikh Empire, Durrani Empire, British Empire and annexed to Pakistan in 1947 after Sub-Continent's partition.
The famous war between Yousafzai Afghans and Maharaja Ranjit Singh was fought in Nowshera district. The Durand Line agreement was done in British Era.
