MSB - A Fantasy of Joy (Schjelderup), New Zealand 2022

‘A Fantasy of Joy’ was commissioned by the Black Dyke Band to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, which the MSB was pleased to feature throughout their 2022 tour of New Zealand. Included in the composition is the well known song ‘Ode to Joy’ from Beethoven’s 9th symphony … based on a poem by Freidrick Schiller written about peace, proclaiming the triumph of humanity against war and desperation.
