How old am I? poem attributed to José Saramago and not found in any of his poetry collections. However, since it is not known or not known if there is another book that relates it, it continues to be given as his own.
How old am I? It is not a complaint, it is a poem of vindication and appreciation, of recognition, but also of courage and pride of age. This is what he declares in one of his verses: it is not how old I am, nor what people say, but what my heart feels and my brain dictates.
The Portuguese José Saramago (Azinhaga, Santarém, 1923 – Tías, Lanzarote, 2010), Nobel Prize winner in Literature in 1998, left us a great literary production.
