Coral Reef
If you guessed we are doing an oceans theme then you guessed it right. Coral reefs make an important part of the ocean and are the largest structures on earth of biological origin.
Corals come in a wide array of shapes, sizes, and colors. Some are thought to resemble deer antlers, trees, giant fans, brains, and honeycomb. Although many corals may look like plants, they’re animals; they are most closely related to jellyfish and anemones.
There are three different types of coral reef formations—barrier reefs, coral atolls, and fringing reefs. If you have visited @maldives the corals there are the coral atolls. Coral reefs grow very slowly, at an average rate of just two centimeters per year.
Coral reefs are naturally colourful because of algae, which lives inside of the coral, providing them with food.
Recently my older one had 3D shapes in school and he used this craft that he made to show the teachers and talk about the shapes used. Can you spot all the 3D shapes here ??
One wish on my bucket list is to dive into the Great Barrier Reef with the kids and see the beautiful life inside with them. Do you think I have dived before ???
