To help patients feel more
To help patients feel more comfortable we use nerve blocks to numb the full facial area, along with topical creams and oral medications. Nerve blocks involve the injection of a mixture of medications around nerves that target the treatment areas. Nerve block injections last a few hours, making the treatment itself less painful but the aftermath (ie heat, swelling) much more tolerable. First, we clean the skin around the injection areas and apply a topical numbing agent to prepare the patient for an injection.
After the patient is numbed topically, the insertion points are determined and targeted injections are performed. There may be some mild burning and stinging with the injections but almost immediately, the numbing takes effect and then the treatment is much more comfortable.
