In the first round of the NBA Playoffs, the Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games. James Harden and Paul George had good performances here and there but really struggled in the final games, Kawhi Leonard was again injured and hardly played in the first round, many of the supporting guys like Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell had ups and downs, and they even held Luka Doncic somewhat in check, yet still couldn't get the job done. It was a disappointing loss and an ending that has become fairly common with Clippers teams in this era. They've only made one conference finals since the Paul George trade, a deal in which they gave the Oklahoma City Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams, and have still failed to make an NBA Finals while the Los Angeles Lakers have won one in the same city over that timespan. It feels like the Clippers have run out of tries, can't stay healthy, their stars can walk and are regressing even if they stay, this feels like it was their last shot and they failed.
